At Roof Space Renovators, we love helping homeowners unlock the potential hiding above their heads. But there’s one line we won’t cross, and that’s converting a roof space to a dust proof conversion that’s less than 1.5 metres high.
It might sound harsh. But here’s the truth: we’re not here to make a quick buck. We’re here to do work that great value and that you’ll genuinely love using. Let’s explain why this rule exists (and why you’ll thank us for it later).
The 1.5m attic conversion rule
Could we technically squeeze in a dust-proof room under 1.5m? Sure.
Would we? Nope. We will never convert a roof space into a dust proof attic conversion if the height is less than 1.5m.
While we love saying yes to more storage, yes to extra bedrooms, and yes to bringing your home’s full potential to life. We say no to certain height limits, because in our experience, the functionality and value just aren’t there. We are not here to take your money and leave you with a space that’s awkward, unusable, or overpriced for what it delivers.
Unfortunately, not every company plays by the same rules. If a business is happy to convert a roof space that’s under 1.5 metres high, they’re not acting in your best interests. And that’s not the only red flag to watch for.
Did you know that, according to WorkSafe QLD, power must be shut off at the main switchboard before an installer or trade enters your roof space? Yet not all installers follow this basic safety step. If your installer doesn’t de-energise your home before climbing in the roof, what else are they skipping? Shortcuts like these risk both safety and a getting a dodgy result.
So…what can be done in a low roof space?
If your roof height falls short of the magic number, it’s not game over.
You still have options, like our budget storage flooring. It’s the perfect solution if you’re simply after a spot to store the Christmas decorations, old keepsakes, or those “just in case” items. It’s quick, affordable, and gets the job done.
You might also consider roof modifications if you’re set on a full conversion, but keep in mind this is a much bigger investment and may not be feasible for every home.
