Budget Attic Storage Solutions

As the name suggests, this attic storage option provides a basic solution and therefore falls into the budget range. It involves the installation of an attic ladder and the flooring of a section of roof space. This platform is professionally installed to provide a 75kg per m2 storage capacity, plus occasional foot traffic. Our budget option provides the perfect storage space for ocassional use items, sealed in containers and boxes. This basic option is our most popular attic storage solution predominantly due to price. However, another determination is its suitability for most Queensland homes, as a huge roof space is not required to gain the additional storage.

Pros of Basic Attic Storage

Cons of Basic Attic Storage

The storage space is open to the elements of the roof space
Items must be stored in sealed boxes & containers
Heat can be an issue (however ventilation options are available for extra cost)

Clean Attic Storage Solutions

A clean attic storage room, also known as a dust proof storage room, is designed with the same storage load capacity as our basic storage option. However, this option involves the construction of a roof space room, lined with insulative white cell wrap. It provides for an enclosed and attractive storage space, seperate from the elements of the remainder of roof space. Commonly stored items include musical instruments, clothing, footwear, books, baby goods etc. This option is best constructed in roof spaces with a little extra head height, than that required for our basic option. Therefore some Queensland homes are less suitable for a clean attic storage room.

Pros of Clean Attic Storage

Some of the benefits of choosing clean attic storage include:

Provides a clean and insulated environment, seperate to the remainder of roof space
Easy access to your stored items, as they are located conveniently right above your head
Choose from a range of attic ladders and storage room size

Cons of Clean Attic Storage

These are some of the negatives of clean attic storage:

More expensive than the basic / budget option
Takes longer than the basic / budget option to install (approx. 3-5 days, depending on size)
Requires a bit higher roof pitch than the basic / budget option to make the investment worthwhile

Deluxe Attic Storage Solutions

Whilst also accessed via a ladder, Deluxe Attic Storage Rooms are built very different to our budget and clean storage options. Under the guidance of a structural engineer, a section of the roof space is cleared of trusses and/or other timber members. A structural floor is built and the walls are lined with gyprock walls. Roof windows and other ventilation products are installed along with lighting, powerpoints etc. Further, a Deluxe Attic Storage Room is not considered a habitable space, however these rooms are often used as a kids playroom, study or hobby room. Unfortunately, whilst there are plenty of Queensland homes with a roof pitch high enough to construct an attic room such as this, many are not suitable.

Pros of Deluxe Attic Storage

The benefits of having a deluxe attic storage room in your home include:

Provides a multi-purpose, flexible space
It’s a cost-effective way to add an extra room to your home, as you are using space that would otherwise be going to waste
Although not classed as a habitable space, these rooms are finished to look as such
Adds value to your home
Structural floor allows for heavier use and frequent foot traffic

Cons of Deluxe Attic Storage

A couple of downsides associated with deluxe attic storage are:

Not suitable for all homes built in Queensland
A building approval (BA) may be required
Build time is a minimum of 3-4 weeks (depending on size and inclusions)
