The big decision: raise the ceiling or install glass skylights?
Decisions, decisions! The Ferny Hills homeowners had their hearts set on a more spacious, naturally lit galley kitchen, but they weren’t sold on how they were going to achieve it.
They considered raising the ceiling to get the feel they were after, but skylights were also an option. Ultimately, they decided to call in the experts at Roof Space Renovators. After visiting and assessing the home and structure, we suggested three glass Atlite skylights. Why? It checks all the boxes: practical, budget-friendly (compared to raising the ceiling), and the perfect recipe for creating the spacious and sunshine-filled space the homeowners were after.

We provided multiple options for different-sized skylights, but the homeowners were keen to maximise the natural light and settled on the largest skylights available to fit within their truss spacings (550x1400mm).
At the same time as the skylight install, we placed budget attic flooring and a ladder.
The total project, taking just 5 days (3.5 days for the skylights and another day for the attic work), unveiled a kitchen bathed in the glow of natural light.
And the homeowners couldn’t be happier, “It’s so nice to look up at the clouds, trees, and stars when I’m in the kitchen!”.
