For Kerran’s Scarborough home, we installed a budget timber attic ladder and approximately 17m2 of storage flooring. The build of the home allowed for a wider ladder (680mm wide) to be installed. They had an average ceiling height, so although budget attic ladders are steeper, their average ceiling height meant it wasn’t too steep.

Things to Consider with Ladder Installation

When it comes to ladder installation one of the biggest factors to take into account is the most practical location – leading to the highest and most usable area of roof space.

On the above recent install, there were obstructing electrical cables and light fittings which meant the customer was required to have them relocated prior to installation.

Our company does have an electrician that works with us, so we can quote required electrical works into the job or the customer can choose to have their own electrician conduct the work prior to our installation.

How Long Does Ladder Installation Take?

We can usually book an appointment for our consultant to visit to do a measure and quote within one week of the customer contacting us. This does depend on their location as we cover a large area including the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich and all areas in between.

From acceptance of our quote, it depends on how much work we already have scheduled in. For a ladder and storage flooring like this recent job, we are usually booked 2-3 weeks in advance. For a job of this size (attic ladder plus 17m2 of storage flooring) we would allocate one day for installation and would expect for it to take approximately 6-8 hours.
